Funeral Services for Joseph Malcolm Clement, 53, were held Friday afternoon at the Dickson Methodist Church with the Rev. O.J. Hawkins, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Union cemetery.

Mr. Clement died early Thursday morning at his home in West Dickson. Mr. Clement had been in falling health for the past 21 years and had returned to his home Wednesday from a Nashville Sanitarium.

Mr. Clement operated the McEwen Drug Company in McEwen for a number of years. While living in McEwen he served as a member of the city council and was president of the McEwen Bank. He served as assistant journal clerk for the House of Representatives during the administration of Governor Austin Peay.

Ill health forced him to sell his drug business about 20 years ago and he moved to Dickson entering the Insurance business. For the past several years, ill health prevented his being active in business or civic affairs.

He was a member of the Dickson Methodist church adn the Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Earline Lockhart Clement; a daughter. Mrs Dale Goodard of Issaquah, Washington; one son, J.M. Clement of Dickson; a sister Mrs. Carl Nicks fo Dickson; two half brothers, W A Clement Sr. and Newt Clement, three half-sister, Mrs. J. B. Walthour of Chattanooga, Mrs. Mattie Lashelle of Camden and Mrs. Joe B Weems of Dickson; numerous nieces and nephews, including Governor Frank Clement.

Taylor Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
