Esther Octavia Seline Olsgaard was the eldest of 4 siblings, Orris, Verna and Marvin. She married Gordon Vaala, also from Minnesota. Esther graduated from H.S. in 1930 and attended business school out East. She was a bookkeeper for many years at the Powers Hotel, then became the accountant at the Red Cross where she received accommodations for her service. She was Ass't Superintendent at Children's Village and retired from Lutheran Social Services in Fargo, ND. Outside of work, she volunteered for the Red Cross and United Fund and was a member and an officer of the Altrusa Club. She also loved to play cards and for most of her years was a part of the "Card Club". She had 2 daughters, Seline Jorjann Vaala Carlson and Denise Oris Vaala Farol. Seline and Denise both had 4 children: ReveAnn, Nikki, Rory, Darren and Brian, Kristen, Scott, Quinn. There are 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
