Verna Louise Olson, 100, passed away on June 1, 2015 in Clearwater, FL. Her life will be celebrated at a memorial service at the Lakewood Cemetery Chapel in Minneapolis, MN on July 23, 2015 at 2:00 PM.

Verna Louise Olsgaard was born December 6, 1914 to Peder and Sina (Miller) Olsgaard. She grew up and attended school in Moorhead. She graduated from Moorhead State Teachers College, now Minnesota State University Moorhead, with a teaching degree.

She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary for many years and was a past president of the Fargo Chapter. She worked for Lutheran Social Services for a number of years. She was an accomplished bridge player and a member of many bridge clubs throughout the years. She enjoyed traveling, especially visiting her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom, along with many friends and relatives helped her celebrate her 100" birthday party recently.

In 1941, Verna married Wallace A. Kapaun, now deceased. She lived in the Fargo, ND area until her marriage to M. D. (Bud) Olson in 1972, and moved to Minneapolis, MN. In 2003 she moved to Clearwater, FL where she resided until her death.

She is survived by four children: Ronald (Pamela) Kapaun, Clearwater, FL; Gregory (Diane) Kapaun, Glenwood Springs, CO; Sheryl (Dennis) Engstrom, Des Moines, IA; and Bruce Kapaun, Moorhead, MN; 6 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud, her parents and her brothers, Orris Olsgaard and Marvin Olsgaard, and her sister, Esther (Olsgaard) Vaala, her stepson Jerald Olson, and her grandson Bradley Olson.
