At her residence, 33 Cedar Street, on Wednesday evening, April 26th, at 9 o'clock, of puerperal convulsions, Mrs. Ida U. Hayward, daughter of Dr. Uriah Upjohn, aged 24 years and six months. Dr. Upjohn received the news this morning that Capt. J. A. Hayward, a former resident of this place, was drowned off the schooner Amadeo at Sabine, Texas, while engaged in dredging. It will be remembered he married a sister of Dr. Upjohn some six years ago and that she died about two years after and was buried here. Kalamazoo Daily Telegraph August 24, 1880 page 4
