Death of Mrs. Campbell.
DIED—At her home in Canal Fulton, Starke County , Ohio, at six o'clock on the morning of Jan. 29, 1876, Mrs. Amelia Campbell, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Upjohn of Kalamazoo, aged 27 years, 7 months.
Friends of the dear, departed one are thus early left to mourn the loss of her whose short stay upon this earth seemed doubly shortened by the suddenness with which her soul has taken its heavenly flight. Tis seldom we meet with one whose life has been so well spent or more devoted to the good of those around her. For who has known her and not loved her or felt happier for having known her? In her father's home she was the loved and cherished of them all; and her married life, though short, was never marred by word or act of hers. Among her large circle of friends not one can be found who ever heard her speak a harsh or unkind word, or knowingly wound the feelings of another.
'Tis scarcely fifteen months ago that she left the home of her childhood to share, with heart and hand, the home of another. Hardly had her friends become reconciled to her absence, when, with scarcely a warning, the news of her sudden death reached them. Her sickness was short but severe. To him whose life she had made so happy, and to whom she was so dear, who mourns her loss as none other can, we extend our heartfelt sympathy. And may the example of her life teach him so to live that death, instead of separating, shall yet unite them in the life that is to come. While to her parents her loss will be partially supplied by the care and affection, they will extend to her child who thus, when only eight days old, was left motherless. The remains will be brought here for burial and will arrive to-morrow (Tuesday) morning from the south. The funeral services will be held at Dr. Upjohn's residence, 49 Lovell street, at half past one tomorrow afternoon. Friends are invited to attend. Kalamazoo Daily Telegraph August 24, 1880 page 4
