Mrs. Emma Miller, 87, Dies of Senility

Mrs. Emma Miller, 87, a native of near Garrett and life-long resident of DeKalb county, died at 7 a.m. Friday in the Williams Convalescent home in Butler. She was the widow of the late John C. F. Miller, a Baltimore & Ohio railroad employee.

The body was removed to the Zimmerman funeral home in Garrett, where final rites were held Sunday at 2 p.m. The Rev. F. Hazen Sparks of the Garrett Methodist church officiated and burial followed in Woodlawn cemetery, Auburn.

Mrs. Miller's death was attributed to senility. She was admitted to the convalescent home March 5. 1947.

A native of near Garrett, she was born Dec. 16 1864, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Steffen. She resided at Butler Center south of Garrett before entering the convalescent home

Surviving are a son, Edward H Miller of 813 East King street, Garrett; a daughter, Mrs. Nellie Coombs of Jackson, Mich.; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Steffen of Chicago and Frank Steffen of Fort Wayne; and two sisters, Mrs. Louise Burtch of 801 South Randolph street, Garrett. and Mrs. John Mutzfeld of Rt. 1. Auburn. Her husband died Aug. 13, 1928.
