Edward H. F. Miller, 69, a lifelong resident of Garrett, died suddenly of a heart attack Sunday at 7:45 a. m. at his home, 813 East King street. He had been afflicted with a severe asthmatic condition for a number of years and also had heart trouble. For several years it was necessary for him to sleep in a chair. He had been feeling badly for the past three weeks and Saturday his wife was up with him most of the night. He was dozing in a chair on the enclosed front porch and when his wife looked at him at 7:15 a. m. Sunday he was sleeping. When she looked again at 8 a. m. he had expired. The doctor placed the time of death at 15 minutes earlier.
The body was taken to the Zimmerman funeral home. The Masons, of which he was a member. will hold twilight services there Monday at 8 p. m. Final rites will be held at the funeral home Tuesday at 2 p. m. with Rev. F. Hazen Sparks of the Methodist church officiating. Burial will follow in Union cemetery, northwest of Garrett.
Mr. Miller was born July 2, 1884, in Garrett, a son of the late John C. F. and Emma Miller. His mother died exactly two years ago to the day of his death.
Mr. Miller was a retired B. & O. machinist foreman, retiring because of poor health. He was a substitute rural mail carrier for many years until a few years ago, and for 20 years was Keyser township deputy assessor.
Mr. Miller's first wife died and on April 12, 1923, he and Mrs. Ellen Medes were married at Hillsdale, Mich.
Surviving besides the widow are two children by his first wife, Mrs. Harry Shaffer of Corunna and Robert Miller of Fort Myers, Fla.; a stepson, Wallace Medes, at home; six grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Nellie Coombs of Jackson, Mich.
Besides being a member of the Masons, Mr. Miller was also a member of the Methodist church and the International Association of Machinists.
