J.C. F. MILLER IS DEAD FOLLOWING AUTO ACCIDENT
Was Baltimore & Ohio Employee Many Years

Pneumonia following injuries received in an automobile accident resulted in the death Monday night at 6:30 o'clock of John C. F. Miller. pensioned Baltimore & Ohio employee, at his home in Butler Center.

Mr. Miller who was nearly 69 years of age, had, with his grandson, George Coombv. taken a job to paint the Hogue school house west of Butler Center. They were getting ready to begin work and left the school house last Thursday at noon to go to dinner at the Miller home. George, who is seventeen, drove a truck ahead of his grandfather, who was in a Ford coupe. From a cause that is unknown, the coupe left the road at a point a mile and a half west of Butler Center, plunged into a ditch four feet deep and struck a tree.

The car was demolished and in the crash Mr. Miller had his right, leg fractured, his nose cut and his left shoulder hurt. He was removed to his home and his injuries were treated. He became unconscious during the afternoon from concussion of the brain, but he was gradually improving until pneumonia developed Monday morning at 3 o'clock. It was evident that this would have a fatal ending.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist Protestant church et Butler Center, of which Miller was a member, Wednesday afternoon. The pastor. the Rev. Ratcliffe, officiated and interment was made in Woodlawn cemetery in Auburn.

Mr. Miller was born at Kendallville. As a youth he located in Garrett soon after the town was founded and entered the employ of the railroad company. He was a Miner and pipefitter and continued in the company's service until 1908, when he was pensioned because of injuries to his hands. He then moved onto a farm in Jackson township southeast of Auburn, remaining eleven years. Nine years ago he moved to Butler Center.

Surviving are the widow, whose maiden name was Emma Steffen, and two children, Edward H. P. Miller of 813 East King street, Garrett. and Mrs. Claude Coombs of Jackson, Mich. There are also one brother, Fred Miller of Spencerville, one sister, Mrs. Mary Habig of Huntertown, and seven grandchildren.
