Nothing is know of the early life of Sarah. She was probably born in Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania. She probably married Matthew Duncan prior to 1746 when her first child was born. Lancaster Co., PA marriage records: Sarah JOHNS married 7 Dec 1846 Matthew DUNCAN (not proven) but verified by the following two records. "They were early settlers of Old Frederick Co.,VA immigrants from Lancaster Co., PA, originally from Ireland. Most of their seven children immigrated to Kentucky prior to 1800." Wilma Hall, Wichita, KS 67227. "Historical Records of Old Frederick Co., VA," by Wilma L. Kerns, p. 157. "Matthew Duncan s/o James Duncan of Ireland was born ca 1700 died ca 1766 in Frederick Co., VA. His son Matthew Duncan married Sarah JOHNS, born ca 1723 died 1804." She moved with her son Seth Duncan around 1796 to Bourbon County, Kentucky, thence to Pendleton Co., KY and died in 1804.
