FROSTBURG,MARYLAND -- Mrs. Alda (Meese) Layman, 74, of 36 Green Street, died Wednesday in Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born in Garrett County, she was a daughter of the late Daniel Meese and Mary (Wetmiller) Meese. Her husband, William C. Layman, preceded her in death.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and Lutheran Church Women.
She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. LaVerne Geis, Mrs. Doris Taccino and Mrs. Mary Louise Winfield, all of Frostburg, and Mrs. Anita Ahalt, Seabrook.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Eva Landis, Meyersdale, PA.; Mrs. June Kovacs, Navarre, OH.; two brothers, George Meese, Star Route, Frostburg; Woodrow Meese, Avoca, NY; three sons, William C. Layman, Jr.; Samuel Layman, both of here, and the Rev. Darrell Layman, Sharpsburg; 20 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home by the Rev. Donald F. Sause. Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Edward Geis, Mark Layman, Dean Layman, Frank Taccino, Derrick Winfield, Wendell Winfield, Sean Ahalt and David Layman.
