His name originally was Jons Jonsson and he changed it to Benjamin Johnson when he came to the United States. He declared his intention to become a US citizen on March 5, 1885. He was the son of Jons Jonsson and Sissa Hakansson, with one sister Hanna and a brother Sven. He married Elna Svensdotter in the Kyrkhult Parish, Sweden. By December 1876 they were in Kiel, Germany where Emma was born. By June 1880 they were back in Sweden when Rekah was born, then Olaf in 1882. By 1885 they were in Skiddy, Kansas and Anna (my grandmother), Lillian and Edith were born.
