Edward was the son of Philip & Wilhelmina Henning Petzing. He married Alvina Hoese, 5 Jun 1901, 1901, Shumway, Effingham County, Illinois. They had six children.

Edward Petzing Dies At Age 86; Rites Wednesday


Shumway—Edward R. Petzing, 86, retired farmer, died at 9:30 p.m. Sunday at the family home in Shumway, where he had been bedfast for one month. He had been in poor health for several years.


Mr. Petzing and his wife, the former Alvina Hose(sic), who survives, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Jun 5, 1951. The family lived on a farm near Moccasin where Mr. Petzing had been born. After his retirement in 1948, the couple moved to town.


He was born November 18, 1874, in Moccasin township to Philip and Wilhelmina Henning Petzing. The deceased was the last member of his immediate family.


Surviving are his wife; three sons, Harold of Beecher City, Raymond of Effingham and Dale of Bradley; three daughters, Mrs. T. A. (Lillian) Healy of Lima, O., Mrs. Walter (Esther) Berg of Soda and Mrs. C. W. (Martha) Engel of Springfield; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.


The body is at the Cook funeral home, Beecher City where it may be viewed after 1 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services have been set for Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Shumway Trinity Lutheran church. Rev. O. A. Brauschweig officiating. Interment in the Lutheran cemetery.
