Harrington Services Tomorrow
Funeral services for Emerson C. Harrington Jr., 77, an attorney and for many years leader of a Democratic party faction in Dorchester county, will be held at 2 P.M. tomorrow at the Christ Episcopal Church, Cambridge. Mr. Harrington died of a heart attack early yesterday at his home, 305 Mill street, in Cambridge.
Father was governor
Born and raised in Cambridge, he graduated from St. John's College in Annapolis in 1913. Three years later he graduated from the University of Maryland Law School and was admitted to the bar. He came to his politics naturally for his father, the late Emerson C. Harrington, Sr., had served as governor of Maryland from 1916 to 1920. Although his son was mentioned as a possible contender for various state offices in the 1950's, he never ran. The younger Mr. Harrington supported George P. Mahoney several times in the 1950's and 1960's in his unsuccessful attempts to be elected governor or United States senator.
Served in World War I
Mr. Harrington had been in poor health for about a year but he continued to practice law. Much of his practice was in criminal law. He practiced with his father, who died in 1945, and then with a son-in-law, Edward H. Nabb. During World War I he served as a second lieutenant in the 115th Infantry. A life member of Christ Episcopal Church, he served as a past president of the Dorchester County Bar Association and as a past commander of Dorchester Post No. 91, of the American Legion.

He was also a member of the Maryland Bar Association, the Maryland Club in Baltimore, the Dorchester County Historical Society and Chesapeake Barrack No. 128, Veterans of World War I. He had also served as chairman of the board of advisers of the former Peoples Loan and Savings Bank. He was a member of the State Tax Commission from 1942 to 1944. His first wife, the former Winifred Davis, died in 1954. He is survived by his second wife the former Mrs. Marie Bargamin Bosman; two daughters, Mrs. Edward H. Nabb and Mrs. Ann H. Stallings, both of Cambridge; a stepson, John Bozman, of Cambridge; a sister, Mrs. Reginald V. Truitt, of Stevensville, MD.; a brother, William J. Harrington of Cambridge, and three grandchildren.
