Shore Woman Leader Dies
Wife of Emerson C. Harrington, Jr., Victim of Stroke
Cambridge, Md., Oct. 6 [Special]-Mrs. Winifred Davis Harrington, wife of Emerson C. Harrington, Jr., and daughter-in-law of Maryland's World War I governor, Emerson C. Harrington, died here this morning at 8:30 A.M. following a stroke. Mrs. Harrington, 64, had been in the Cambridge Maryland Hospital until last Friday, when she was apparently so improved that she returned with her nurses, to her home on Mill Street, where she died.
Born At Salem
A graduate of Cambridge High School and the Girls' Latin School, Baltimore, Mrs. Harrington was born October 23, 1889, at Salem, Dorchester county. She was the daughter of the late William Edward and E. Emma Davis. She was married April 28,1917 to Mr. Harrington who survives her. She is also survived by two daughters and a grandson. They are Mrs. Edward Nabb, Miss Ann Harrington, and Edward H. Nabb, Jr. all of Cambridge. Nieces and nephews surviving are W. Grason Winterbottom, Jr., of Cambridge; Edward K. and Clarence Hurlock, of Baltimore; Mrs. Hubert H. Wright and Miss Betty Winterbottom, of Cambridge, and Mrs. Neil Hurlock Temple and Mrs. Lucille H. Wright, of Baltimore. Mrs. Harrington was prominent in civic, social and church life in Cambridge. She did extensive work for the Appleby home for the aged and operated a thrift shop for local charities.
