Selma M. Larson was born in Brandon Township, Douglas County, Minnesota, on September 21, 1900, the daughter of Peter T. and Jensina (Olson) Hanson. She grew to womanhood in Urness Township and was confirmed at the West Moe Lutheran Church. She attended country school and lived most of her life in Douglas County. Selma enjoyed playing the organ and was a former member of the Peace Lutheran Church in New London, Minnesota. For the past two and one-half years she had lived at the Knute Nelson Memorial Home in Alexandria where she died on Monday, July 3, 1989, at the age of 88 years.

Selma is survived by husband: Gustav A. Larson of Alexandria; brothers: Phillip Hanson of Alexandria; Hans Hanson of Garfield; sister: Ina Sanders of Hoffman. Selma was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services were Friday, July 7, 1989 at 1 p.m. at the West Moe Lutheran Church, Brandon, Minnesota, with Reverend Diane Lundgren and Reverend Loren Spaulding officiating. Interment was in West Moe Lutheran Cemetery, Brandon, Minnesota. Pallbearers were Robert Hanson, Ronald Hanson, Allen Hanson, LeRoy Sanders, Willard Sanders and Jim Hanson. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home.
