Max E. McGee, a Nebraska Lifetime Funeral Director, died at the Missouri Veterans Home in St. Louis MO on Saturday, August 18, 2012. Max is survived by his two children, son, Mark E McGee of Parlin, New Jersey and daughter, Dee and her husband, Steve Davis of St. Louis MO; two grandchildren, Jessica and husband Adam Hanna and Ryan Davis; nieces and nephews. Max was born on November 7, 1917 at Lincoln NE, the son of Garton W. and Frances A. (McCoy) McGee. He graduated from Norfolk High School in 1936 and graduated from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1937. He married M. Maxine Pischel on May 4, 1941 at Norfolk Nebraska. He served in the Army from July 11, 1941 to January 14, 1946 as a Quarter Master Tech Sergeant. They were blessed with two children. Max served as a Funeral Director all of his life. He served as a Funeral Director at the Hoepfinger Funeral Home at Neligh from 1947-1958. He served as a Funeral Director at Hillview Chapel, Pierce and Norfolk, NE from 1955 to 1960. He then served as a Funeral Director at the David City Memorial Chapel at David City NE from 1960-1984; Past President 1973-1974 Nebraska Funeral Directors Association; and from 1984-2005 he served as Funeral Director at the Butler-Volland Funeral Homes in Hastings.
FUNERAL SERVICES 11am on Friday, August 24, 2012 at the Stonacek Funeral Chapel, 910 Park Avenue in Norfolk Nebraska. VISITATION 10am until the time of service at the funeral home. The Reverend Dr. James S. Brewer will officiate. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Norfolk NE. Military rites by the American Legion Post #16, V.F.W. Post #1644 of Norfolk NE, and the United States Army Honors Guard.
