Daughter of Mary (Taliaferro) and Col. Frances Thorton Jr. Sis of Francis III, Mary, Alice, John, Elizabeth Mary, Reuben, Sarah, Powland, Ann, Lucy Eliza and William Montpelier THORNTON. Born at Snow Creek, VA. near present Fredericksburg, VA. Widow of Nicholas Meriwether -1739) by whom she had Mildred Thornton Meriwether, (who married John Syme, half brother of Patrick Henry.) She then married Dr. Thomas Walker on 6/22/1741 bringing the vast Meriwether lands with her. She bore Dr. & explorer Walker 12 kids. John (Jack) b. 1744; Thomas b. 1749; Reuben; Lucy b. 1751; Charles Samuel b. 1754; Elizabeth Mary b. 1757; Willis (William) Henry b. 1761; Francis b. 1764; Peachy b. 1767; James b. 1771; Judith Mildred b. 1776 and Jane Susanna WALKER b. 1778. Cousin of George Washington. After Mildred's death, Dr. Walker married Elizabeth (Gregory) Thornton, the widow of Reuben Thornton, Mildred's brother. and daughter of Roger Gregory and Mildred Washington.
