Martha Walker was the 9th child of Mildred Thornton Meriwether and Doctor Thomas Walker. In 1780 she married George Divers of Albemarle County, Virginia. In 1785 they would purchase the plantation, 'Farmington' from the Francis Jerdone family. Today Farmington is the Farmington Country Club.
Martha would be the last of her family to die, in 1829. Her obituary is referenced in The Magazine of Albemarle County History, Volume 19, 1960 - 1961 in an article by Mary Catharine Murphy entitled, 'Abstracts of Obituaries in Charlottesville Newspapers, 1827 - 1859.'
