John Gengler Of Oyens Retired Farmer Dies
Resident Of County Since Early Seventies

John Gengler, 87, retired farmer of Oyens, died Tuesday night at his home. He was an early resident of Plymouth county, coming here with his parents more than sixty-five
years ago.

He was born at Waldscheid, Luxembourg, Europe, May 5, 1894, and came to America at the age of sixteen years. He worked as a youth in coal mines at Bradford, Illinois, and then west to Le Mars and followed the occupation of farming in the vicinity of Oyens for many years.

During the years from 1891 to 1897 he made his home in Le Mars and engaged in business and then returned to farming, an occupation he followed until retirement. He lived
in Oyens the past twenty years.

He was married to Magdalena Ronck in St. Joseph church
in Le Mars April 11, 1883, Rev. Father H. J. Meis officiating.

He is survived by four sons, Michael and Theodore, of Remsen, Nick Gengler of Elkton, S. D., John P. Gengler of Le Mars and four daughters, Mrs. Susan Probst of Le Mars, Mrs. Frances Ludwig of Remsen, Mrs. Catherine Arens and
Mrs. Elizabeth Lanzendorf of Oyens, forty-one grand
children and twelve great grandchildren.

His wife preceded him in death January 28, 1933.

The funeral will be held Saturday August 2, at 9 o'clock
in St. Catherine's church in Oyens, Msgr. Henry Rolfes officiating, and interment made in St. Catherine's
cemetery. Wiltgen's funeral home of Le Mars is in charge
of arrangements.
