Ann Dorothy (Stolar) Plummer, 95, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, Eileen, on Friday, June 17. She was born in Liverpool on December 30, 1915, the daughter of Mary Furstey Stolar and Anthony Stolar. Ann worked at the A&P Bakery for nine years before her marriage, for Remington-Rand during the war years in the 1940s, and in her later years, worked for Jams Department Store and Park-Brannock with her husband, who was the manager. She was a loving and hard-working mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who had many talents in cooking (was published in the local newspaper as Cook of the Week in 1970), crocheting, writing poetry (which was published), gardening, playing bingo and spoke the Ukrainian language fluently and wrote in Ukrainian to her late sister, Anna, and relatives in Russia since 1957. She was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, William H. Plummer Jr., in 1982 and son, Alan D. Plummer, in 1998. Surviving are her daughters, Eileen Sokolowski of Liverpool and Lori (Robert) Howard of Norcross, GA; sons, William H. Plummer III of Oklahoma City, OK, Robert K. Plummer of Liverpool and Eric (Amy) Plummer of Norcross GA; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Olga Davis of Central Square, Diane Groth of LaFayette and Jennie Lanternier of Huntington Beach, CA; sisters-in-law, Elsie Plummer Dennis and Ruth Plummer; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at Maurer Funeral Home 300 Second St., Liverpool. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at St. Joseph the Worker Church, 1001 Tulip St., Liverpool, with burial to follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice, James Square Nursing Home and Home Aides of CNY for the wonderful care given to our mother and to two special friends who gave caring help and support to our family, Carolyn Ball of Vermont and Joanna Berkery of Camillus. Contributions may be made to Hospice of CNY or charity of your choice.
