Hannah Louisa Patterson died at her home south of Stratford, Thursday, Dec. 6, 1917. She was born Oct. 11, 1828 in Vimmersby, Småland, Sweden. She has thus attained the great age of 89 years, 1 month and 25 days.

She came to this country in 1867; she and her husband, Shogren (Carl Gustaf Sjögren), coming direct to Boonesboro. Shogren died very shortly after they had settled down in this country and left her a young widow. She remarried in the year 1869, becoming the wife of John Patterson, and the couple moved to the farm which has since been their home.

To Mr. and Mrs. Patterson was born one son, C.G.E. Patterson, who together with his wife, very tenderly looked after his mother during the years of her advanced age. The husband and father died March 27, 1905.

The deceased leaves to mourn her demise, her son, C.G.E. Patterson, Albert Patterson, both of Stratford, and Sam Patterson of South Dakota. The latter two were stepsons to Mrs. Patterson and she has been to them a real mother. She also leaves ten grandchildren to sorrow over her departure and a large number of relatives and friends will keenly feel the loss. Since her earliest days, she has been a member of the Swedish Methodist Church in South Marion.

Peace to her memory.
