USEFUL LIFE ENDED
Death at Chicago of Fred Dodds a Bright Bloomington Boy.

Heart failure and a complication of diseases, arising from asthma, caused the death of Cornelius Fred Dodds in Chicago Sunday night at ten o'clock.

The news was received with surprise and caused a shock to the many friends of the young man in Bloomington, as it was not generally known until Saturday that Mr. Dodds was seriously sick. His first illness began about May 1st of this year, when he decided to take a vacation and left Chicago for a western trip, stopping at various points in Colorado. Mr. Dodds returned to Chicago and his condition grew worse. The middle of last week his condition took an alarming course and he rapidly failed until death relieved him.

Mr. Dodds was born in Bloomington thirty years ago and was one of the city's best known young men. He had attained a remarkable degree of success for one of his age. Yet a young man he was manager and buyer in the carpet department for the Fair, one of Chicago's largest wholesale houses, and this position he filled acceptably. He left Bloomington about fifteen years ago after receiving his education in the High school and the University. He went from here to Omaha and later went to Chicago. Before leaving Bloomington he was a member of the clerical force for W. W. Wicks.

He was the youngest son in a family of twelve children born to Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Dodds, west Second street, and his death is the first to occur among the children. The deceased was married in 1902 to Miss Sadie Cone, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Cone, a prominent family of Chicago. His wife still survives him. Mr. Dodds was a member of Franklin lodge Knights of Pythias of this city. He was an ambitious, energetic and successful business man, and was everybody's friend.

The body will arrive n Bloomington Wednesday morning and the funeral will be held at ten o'clock Wednesday at the First Presbyterian church in charge of Rev. M. G. Allison. The interment will take place at Rose Hill cemetery.
