Mrs. Martha Lamkins Rites to Be Friday
Mrs. Martha Lamkins, 73 year old life-time Bloomington resident and daughter of Bloomington's second mayor, the late C. F. Dodds, died at 6:30 o'clock last night in Bloomington Hospital where she had been a patient the past week. Mrs. Lamkins suffered a heart attack shortly before her death and had had heart trouble for some time. She was the wife of Frank Lamkins, a Monroe county recorder for two terms and real estate agent who died Oct. 12, 1940. The Lamkins home was at 503 West Sixth Street. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Glen H. Fowler, of Bloomington, and Mrs. Richard Harding, of Santa Barbara, Calif.; two sons, Charles Lamkins of Kingsport, Tenn., and Clelland Lamkins, of Bakersfield, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. C. D. Miller, of Bloomington, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. W. J. Dodds, of Bloomington. Mrs. Lamkins was a graduate of Bloomington High School and of the 1896 class of Indiana University. She was a member of the Fairview Methodist church and of Eastern Star. Mrs. Lamkins was born in Monroe county in September, 1873, the daughter of Clelland F. and Mary E. Orchard Dodds. Her father followed in office of mayor C. W. Henderson, who was first mayor of this city, from 1876 to 1878. Mr. Dodds' term was 1878-1885. In former years she taught school for a short period in Monroe county. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon in Fairview Methodist church, with Rev. C. R. Query officating. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery. The body will be in state at Greene and Harrell funeral home until time for the services."

Complete funeral arrangements for Mrs. Martha Lamkins, 73 year old resident who died Tuesday in Bloomington Hospital, were announced today by Greene and Harrell funeral home. Pallbearers will be William Miller, Leon Gillespie, Fred and Newell and Sam Dodds, Harry Blewett, Vernon Parnell and Jack Smith. The body will lie in state at Fairview Methodist church from 1 to 2 o'clock Friday afternoon after which services will be conducted by Rev. C. R. Query. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery."
