Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 27th, at the First Baptist Church of Columbia with the Revs. Larry Russell, T. O. Arrington, and Gary Maroney officiating.
Burial was in Welcome Home Cemetery under the direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home of Columbia.
Mr. McSween was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 165 F&AM here and the Sandy Bayou Baptist Church. He was a retired farmer and a lifelong Caldwell Parish resident.
Mr. McSween was one of Caldwell Parish's most prominent citizens for years and was active up to a short time ago. He served several terms on the parish governing body, representing Ward 7 where he and a brother, T. B. McSween, operated a large plantation. Some of the time served was as president of the board. He also was Worshipful Master of the local Masonic Lodge at one time, and at the time of his death represented Caldwell Parish on the Boeuf River Soil Conservation. He had been active in church and civic affairs of the parish until his retirement.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Lois McSween of Columbia; a son, W. D. McSween, Jr. of Shreveport; three brothers, Tom McSween, of Columbia, Malcom McSween, of Baton Rouge and Howard McSween of Alexandria; one sister, Mrs. Tom Stafford of Alexandria, and three grandchildren.
The body remained at the funeral home here until shortly before services.
