Funeral services for Harold W. "Yubby" Anderson, 89, of Aurelia, will be Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at 11:00 A.M., at the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia, with Pastor Missy Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural Aurelia. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:30 P.M. to 5:30 P.M., with the family being present, at the Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
Yubby died Saturday, April 24, 2010, at the Sunset Knoll Care and Rehab Center in Aurelia, Iowa.
Harold William Anderson was born July 22, 1920, the son of Adolph and Hazel (Perrin) Anderson at Cherokee, Iowa. He graduated from the Aurelia High School in 1941. On December 6, 1942 he married Melva Marie Kas at the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia. They farmed until his retirement in 1985, and he had also driven Aurelia school bus for 19 years. Yubby was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia. He enjoyed his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, going fishing and the times at the trailer at Spirit Lake, and farming and driving bus.
Preceding Yubby in death were his parents, brothers and sisters-in-law; Harry and Nina Anderson, Paul and Phyllis Anderson, Wilmer Anderson, Mardy and Mary Anderson, and great-granddaughter Brittni Beeson.
Survivors include his wife Melva Anderson of Aurelia, three children; Sandy and her husband Jerry Hodge of Spirit Lake, Tom and his wife Lynn Anderson of Estherville, Paula Brede and special friend Rick Hurshman of Butler, MO. Also surviving are six grandchildren; Krystal McBride, Stacy and wife Shari Beeson, Steven and wife Sara Anderson, Eric and wife Rita Anderson, Cindy and husband Jon Bethune, Michelle and husband Clint Meyer, eight great-grandchildren, Savannah and Shelby McBride, Joe and David Beeson, Will Anderson, Cora Anderson, Emily and Andrew Bethune, two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Anderson and Gladys Kas, and many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
