An obituary for Anna Lovisa Peterson Johnson was published in the Mille Lacs County Times on the 3rd July 1941. It reads:

DIES SATURDAY AT KETTLE RIVER

Mrs. Gustaf S. Johnson, Pioneer Resident of Mille Lacs County, Passed Away June 28th

The death of Mrs. Gustaf S. Johnson occurred last Saturday June 28th at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Albin Odberg, of Kettle River, Minn., where she had been making her home. She had attained the age of 80 years, 7 months, and 11 days.

Anna Lovisa Peterson was born in Moholm, Westergotland, Sweden, on November 17th, 1853. She grew to womanhood and was educated there. On August 9th, 1878, she was united in marriage to Mr. Gustaf S. Johnson. Later they came to the United States and located at Upland, Nebraska. In 1901 they moved to Mille Lacs county and located in Milo township on a farm where they resided for eight years and then moved to Milaca village to reside. Mr. Johnson preceded his wife in death in the year 1931 and she had made her home with her son-in-law and daughter at Kettle River during the past eight years.

She leaves to mourn her departure two sons and five daughters as follows: Erlan Johnson of Milaca, Rev. Carl Gustaf Johnson of Ollie, Iowa, Mrs. Albin Odberg of Kettle River, Mrs. D.J. Lundholm of St. Paul, Mrs. W.W. Barrett of Great Falls, Mont., Mrs. David Sahlstrom, of Onamia, and Mrs. Arvid Anderson, of Foreston. There are also thirty-eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A sister resides in Sweden. Three sons also preceded her in death.

The funeral services were held at the Milaca Baptist Church on Wednesday afternoon, July 2nd, at 2:00 o'clock p.m. with Rev. Chris Larson officiating. Burial was made in Forest Hill Cemetery in the family lot.
