Henry O. Olson Funeral Services Held Wednesday
Funeral services were held Wednesday for Henry O. Olson who passed away Saturday, Dec. 11 at St. Luke's hospital in Alexandria following an illness of three weeks. Last rites were held at the Olson residence at 1:30 p.m. and at 2 o'clock from the Grace Lutheran church at Brandon. Rev. A. T. Tjornhom officiated.
"What a Friend We Have In Jesus" was sung by Mrs. Elmer Bjurlin at the home and the church. Clarence Johnson sang "Behold the Host Arrayed in White", Mrs. Oscar Solem sang "I'm a Pilgrim and I'm a Stranger' and One Sweetly Solemn Thought".
The pallbearers were Odin Olson, Oscar Newhouse, Edwin Toft, John Julseth, Carl Augdahl and Carl Stop. Interment was made in the Brandon cemetery.
Mr. Olson, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Olson, was born Sept. 2, 1874, in Minneapolis, and was 74 years, 3 months and 9 days of age at the time of is death. As a child, he moved with his parents to Brandon township, which has been his home at the time except for five years, during which time he proved up a homestead at Wildrose, N.D.
On Oct. 25 1899 he was married to Jennie Bergh, who survives him.
He was a member of the school board in Dist. No. 82 for about 20 years, also a member of the town board for about the same length of time. He was confirmed at the West Moe church by Rev. Carlson. He transferred his membership to the Grace Lutheran church of Brandon in 1920, and has been a member of the church board.
Besides his wife, Mr. Olson is survived by one daughter, Lila at home and five sons, Jennings E. Olson of Garfield, Harvey of Brandon, Elroy of Belgrade, Clarence of Evansville and Glenn of Brandon, and 12 grandchildren, one great grandchild, and one sister, Mrs. Magda Halgrimson of Brandon. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Peer Hanson, and wo children, one passed away in infancy and Alphild ten years ago.
