Fred C. Tyler, 61, 1015 Orchard Ave., died this morning at Muscatine General Hospital.
Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Thursday at the Ralph J. Wittich Funeral Home. Rev. Tony Nester will officiate. Burial is in the Nichols Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 9 P.M. Wednesday. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home.
The son of Dr. J.K. and Augusta Snell Tyler, he was born Aug. 4, 1919, in Muscatine. He was a life resident of the surrounding area.
His marriage to Betty Pike took place June 3, 1944, in the Little Brown Church at Nashua. He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist church, Elks Lodge No. 304 and the Moose Lodge. He had been employed as a meat cutter and formerly owned and operated the Hill Top Market.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Timothy C. and Thomas L., both of Muscatine; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Patricia) Fromme of Blue Springs, Mo., Mrs. Nick (Sally) Kourousis of Atlantic, and Mrs. Jerry (Mary) Askam of Davenport; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
