Dr. Henry M. Rector was a graduate of Missouri Medical College and practiced medicine in Hot Springs. He joined the Confederate army at sixteen years of age, serving in the reserve corps. He was a member of the Arkansas legislature, editor of the Hot Springs Telegraph, member of the Hot Springs School Board, and president of the Hot Springs Valley Bank.
