Jane Elizabeth Field, the second daughter of Judge William (1796-1861) and Mildred Banks Field (1797-1859), was born October 29, 1822, probably in Jefferson County, Ky. She married in 1838, Governor Henry Massey Rector (1816-99), son of Elias and Fannie Bardella Thruston Rector (1795-1852). He was a member of the Arkansas Senate, justice of the Arkansas Supreme Court and governor of Arkansas, 1860-62. Their eight children were Frank Nelson (c1839-), Ann Baylor (1841-1913), William Field (1842-63), Julia Sevier (1844-80), Dr. Henry Massey, Jr. (1847-1904), Elias William (1849-1917), Ada E. (1851-53), and Frances Thruston Rector (1853-1913).

Ann Baylor Rector (1841-1913) married in 1857, attorney William Milton Matheny (1832-1914), son of Felix G. (1807-79) and Mary E. Matheny (1806-82), of Harrodsburg, Ky. They lived in Baxter Springs, Kan. Their children were Mary C. (c1862-); William Ivan (1872-1941) who married in 1897, Edna Virginia Terry (c1875-); and Julia Frances Maud Matheny (c1876-) who married in 1905, William Wayne Sutherland. A child was Junebug Sutherland. Mary C. Matheny (c1862-) married in 1879, Walter J. Land (1852-), and their four children were Walter, Rector (1884-1953), Vivian and Leighton Land.

William Field Rector (1843-63) was killed in the Civil War at the Battle of Helena on July 4, 1863. At the time, he was adjutant of Colonel Hart's regiment in General McRae's brigade (CSA) and had taken command as all the regimental officers were either killed or wounded.

Julia Sevier Rector (1844-80) later lived in Dallas. She married Col. Charles S. Mitchell (CSA)(1840-1910) who commanded the 8th Missouri Infantry Regiment at the battles of Jenkins' Ferry and Pleasant Hill. Their children were Rector (1866-75); Capt. Charles Samuel (1873-1945) who married Olive May (1876-1909), was an investment banker in Dallas, and served in the Spanish-American War; William; and Lillian Mitchell.

Frances "Fannie" Thruston Rector (1853-1913) married (1) Roswell W. Foreman. Their daughter, Helen Foreman, married Charles E. Ellis and lived in Yonkers, N.Y. She married (2) Col. Charles S. Mitchell (1840-1910) whose first wife was Frances' older sister, Julia Sevier Rector (1844-80). Their children were Grace (1883-1959) who married John R. Pettit (1878- ), and Margaret Mitchell (1889-).
