Was Member of One of Most
Prominent Families in Pine Bluff

James Bradshaw Holcombe, 49, member of one of the most prominent of the older Pine Bluff families and a son of the late Dr. and Mrs. James M. Holcombe, died at the Missouri Pacific Hospital, Little Rock, this morning at 6 o'clock. Mr. Holcombe had been in ill health for several years, but his condition only recently became critical.
Mr. Holcombe is a native of Pine Bluff. He was born at the Old Holcombe place in Union County, Arkansas. He came to Pine Bluff where he spent the greater part of his life. He attended the Annunciation Academy and after completing school entered the employ of the Missouri Pacific Railway and for a number of years was a conductor for this company with one of the important runs out of Pine Bluff. He was a member of the O. R. C.
Ill health forced him to retire from active work several years ago and since then he has spent a large part of his time in hospitals where he sought to regain his health.
His father, Dr. Holcombe, who moved to Pine Bluff with Mrs. Holcombe from Union County, was during his life time one of the most prominent physicians in Southeast Arkansas.
Mr. Holcombe was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Elks Lodge.
He is survived by a sister, Mrs. James B. Reynolds, of Washington, D. C., a nephew, C. T. Hearin, Washington, and a niece, Mrs. Grant Simon, of Philadelphia.
The body will be brought overland by H. I. Holderness Company and will remain at the Holderness Funeral Home until tomorrow when the funeral services will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 10 o'clock with Requiem High Mass conducted by Monsignor Walter J. Tryin. Burial will be in the family lot at Bellwood, and complete funeral arrangements will be made later.
Mrs. James B. Reynolds, sister of the deceased, was at his bedside when he died.

Funeral services for James Bradshaw Holcombe, were conducted this morning at 10 o'clock from St. Joseph's Catholic Church by Rt. Rev. Monsignor Walter T. Tynin, who read requiem high mass. Burial was in the family lot in Bellwood Cemetery with Holderness Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers at the service this morning were J. B. Hilzheim, Richard Barnett, George H. Adams, Alex Barrow, John Bookhart, Tom Gadberry, A. C. Seamon, W. D. Ferguson, O. M. DeViney and J. F. Reed.
