The Portsmouth Herald, Portsmouth NH 23 Oct 1909 Saturday. New York, Oct 23 -- William H. Gallinger, 39 years old, the older son of United States Senator Gallinger of New Hampshire, died of heart failure on Friday evening at the home of his cousin, Mrs. Adelaide E. Johnston [at 288 West Seventeenth street, Manhattan]. According to Dr. David W. Tovey, who reported the case to the coroner, Mr. Gallinger rose from the dinner table, staggered, and reeled to his bedroom where he died before help could be summoned. William H. Gallinger was not married. For several years he had served as his father's private secretary and had returned from Europe but a week ago, where he had accompanied his father, who is vice chairman of the National waterways commission. He leaves one brother, Dr. Ralph H. Gallinger, state physician, Concord NH and one sister, Mrs. M.A. [Katherine C.] Norton living in Cambridge Mass.

The funeral of William H. Gallinger was held at the home of his father, Senator Jacob H. Gallinger, at 45 North State street, on Monday afternoon, Rev. Stanley Emery was the officiating clergyman. The services were largely attended, many being present from Washington, Boston and New York. The floral tributes were many and beautiful. Burial was in Blossom Hill cemetery where the committal service was read at the grave by the pastor.

My thanks to Contributor: W Piety (47945985) • for clarifying that William M. Gallinger was not married, and the Margaret Gallinger buried with him is his SISTER, not his wife.
