Daughter of Isaac & Ann B. (Green) Bailey, she married Jacob H. Gallinger in Salisbury NH in 1860.

She was striken with heart failure just as she was entering the Belasco Theater with her husband and a party of friends. Funeral services were conducted in Washington DC by Rev. Dr. Samuel H. Greene, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, at the Hotel Normandie, where Senator and Mrs. Gallinger had made their home while in Washington. Her body was taken by train to Boston MA and then to Concord NH for burial.

Her birth record shows her middle name as ANN, not Anna as sometimes shown in later biographies. Her mother's name was Ann.
