Ginger Rogers sad Jack Briggs, the Marine Corps private from Quaker Street, who were married at Pasadena, Calif., on Saturday, are pictured as they danced in a Hollywood nightclub several days before the wedding.
Briggs, a native of the Schenectady County village, is a nephew of Dr. DeWitt McDonald and Mrs. McDonald, Euclid St. The inset is Private Briggs too.
Jack Briggs, former Quaker Street boy who married Ginger Rogers Saturday, has the enthusiastic approval of a young Albany cousin. The cousin is Kenneth McDonald, 13, of 57 Euclid, son of Dr. Dewitt K McDonald dentist and Mrs McDonald.
How the McDonalds heard of the marriage is told in a letter Kenneth wrote to his cousin Saturday night:
"Dear Cousin John: "I just want to congratulate you on your marriage to Ginger Rogers. Nice going, Jack. We were all at the dining table when the 8 p. m. news anouncer told of your marriage . Wow you could have knocked me for a row of pies. We were all
thrilled to death. I want to wish you all the luck in the world and please give Ginger our love.
"Your enthusiastic cousin, Ken."
Mrs. McDonald said as far as she knows no member of the family knew the marriage was impending. "We had our last letter from Jack at Christmas time she said, "and he mentioned nothing about it then.
Jack Briggs was named for his grandfather, John Calvin Briggs, who operates the family farm at Quaker Street Schenectady County.
