Son of Senator Cornelius Cole, he was well known as a painter of southwestern landscapes and spent a lot of his time studying and painting the rock formations on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona. He also painted portraits and miniatures. Cole died suddenly at his studio in Hollywood, in the arms of actor Jimmie Wolfe. - info supplied by Tony
