Caroline De Forest the eleventh child of Albert and Eleanor De Forest was born at Glenluce on 7 December 1869. Only the first four months of her life was at Glenluce where her parents had the school before they moved to Upper Macedon where they ran the local school there. Following her father, Albert's disappearance in July 1877, she and her siblings then moved to Echuca to stay with their older siblings.
Caroline married Thomas McFarlane McLean at Nathalia in 1888 and had seven children. The first born child Albert Duncan McLean was born at Nathalia in 1888 and their remaining six children (Mary McFarlane - 1889, Eva - 1993, George Allan - 1898, Eleanor Temby - 1900, Charles Benjamin - 1903 and Elizabeth Clara - 1906) were all born at Swan Hill.
