Sarah De Forest was born only a few hours before her mothers death at Mt Macedon on the 10 August 1873. When aged only three years old her father deserted her along with her youngest siblings when he travelled to America and then when she was aged 19 years old she had a child named Ruby Caroline De Forest whose father was believed to have been named Dale. Ruby Caroline died six months later and was buried in the Nathalia Cemetery. A few years later Sarah married Benjamin Nicholson Brown at Nathalia. Their marriage took place on the 1 Jan 1896 at Holy Trinity Church. At that time he indicated that he was a widower since the 16 June 1893. As to where Sarah ended up following her marriage to Benjamin is a mystery. Neither her year of death or final resting place have been found in either Victorian or NSW BDM records.

Benjamin N Brown was to wed Annie Rose Johnson, who was from the mining town of Eldorado in Victoria, at Albury on 8 Mar 1904. He again indicated that he was a widower and gave no further details of his past two wives identities or their final places of rest.
