Young Amanda's mother died during child birth of her brother, Benjamin Kendrick Pierce, Jr. Later, Amanda and her siblings went to live with her Boykin relations in Camden, South Carolina and then to Dallas County, Alabama.
Here, on February 1st 1847, Amanda Pierce married Dr. James Owen Boykin, son of James William Boykin and the former Clarissa Ann Owens; with whom she had five children: William, Clara, Pierce, James, Jr. and Elizabeth.
Amanda Pierce Boykin departed this life on March 2nd 1857 at the age of 29 years. She was laid to rest in the Boykin Family cemetery at Grace Episcopal Church.
