Cathlene Mearle Beale, daughter of Guyford and Fannie Harbison Beale, was born January 21,1901, at Haverhill.

She graduated from Tama High School and Drake University, Des Moines. She taught high school at Missouri Valley before her marriage to Robert D. Blue, of Eagle Grove, on October 17,1926, at Clarion

The Blues made their home in Eagle Grove, where Mr. Blue was a practicing attorney.

They made their home in Des Moines from 1945 to 1949 after Mr. Blue was elected Governor of the State of Iowa. They returned to Eagle Grove when his term expired. Mr. Blue died in 1989.

Mrs. Blue was a member of the United Methodist Church, PEO, Republican Women, American Legion Auxiliary, OES, White Shrine, Equality Club and Chi Omega Society.

Cathlene Blue died at Rotary Ann Retirement Home, Eagle Grove, on September 21, 1990, at the age of 89 years, and eight months. She had been a resident of the home since May, 1989.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, son, Donald; a sister, Ruth Aberling; and Ruth's twin brother, who died in infancy.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Douglas (Barbara) Dittmar, Des Moines; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Thomas (Barbara) Hamer, Eagle Grove; five grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Gail Thatcher, Las Vegas, Nev.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 26 at 1:30 p m. at the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove with the Rev. Scott C. Hall officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.

The Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home was in charge of services.
