Funeral services for Donald Robert Blue, 42, were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Pastor H. W. Schiller officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Don, who farmed south of Eagle Grove, and was also employed by M & M Livestock Products Co., is survived by his wife, one son, Douglas; one daughter, Donna; his parents, former Governor of Iowa and Mrs. Robert D. Blue; and one sister, Mrs. Barbara Dittmar of Des Moines.

Don served as Boy Scout Master for three years and was sponsor of the Junior League of the Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Donald Robert Blue was born in Eagle Grove, Ia. on June 9, 1930 to Robert D. and Cathlene Beal Blue. He was baptized into the triune faith on April 5, 1931 in the United Methodist Church of Eagle Grove by Pastor Wm. Muhleman. On April 13,1952 he renewed his baptismal covenant through the rite of confirmation at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church. He died in Eagle Grove, Ia. on Feb. 2, 1973, as the result of the explosion last Friday evening, after reaching the age of 42 years, 7 months and 24 days.

Don attended the Eagle Grove schools and was a 1949 graduate of Roosevelt High School in Des Moines. He attended Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Ia. and was a graduate of Eagle Grove Community Junior College. On December 23, 1951 he was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Christensen at the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church. Since their marriage he had been engaged in farming and was also employed by the M&M Livestock Company. Don served as a member of the National Guard.

He was active in scouting and was an assistant and a Boy Scout leader. Don enjoyed working with young people and he devoted much time in teaching youngsters gun safety. He was also active in Christian Fellowship and held an office in this organization. At the time of his death he was a Junior Luther League sponsor and was also an auditor for the Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Those who mourn his departure are his wife Barbara and two children, Donna and Douglas; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert D. Blue; one sister, Barbara (Mrs. Douglas Dittmar) of Des Moines.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 6 at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rev. H. W. Schiller. Interment at Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
