Wife of G. Oldham on cemetery stone.

Catherine (Kitty) Minerva Jackson was the daughter of John Jackson and Mary Forest Hancock. She married Goodman Oldham on April 7, 1812 in Knox County, Kentucky. Microfilm 907997.
Goodman was the son of Richard (Ready Money) Oldham and Ursley Duke Williams.
On April 5,1835 her husband Goodman was killed in the town of Keytesville by Mordecai Lane. Oldham was quietly sitting by the fire at the hotel where he was stopping, when Lane opened the door and shot him in the back, killing him instantly. Oldham had purchased some land from Lane and was to receive a warrantee deed. The payments on the land had all been made except the last. When Oldham demanded his deed, Lane could give him only a tax-deed, as that was all the title he had. Oldham brought suit against Lane for the recovery of his money and because of the litigation by Oldham it was thought Lane killed him.

To this union ten children were born Mary, Jackson, Catherine, Richard, John, Jarvis, Elizabeth, Ursula, Goodman and Marion.

Catherine "Kitty" Minerva Jackson's brother was Hancock Lee Jackson who served as the Governor of Missouri about 1865.
