1883 History of Howard and Chariton Counties, pg. 1029:
'Honorable George Jackson, who represented Chariton county in the Legislature for a number of yeas, came to this State from Kentucky in an early day and made his home first in Howard county. In 1828, while a resident of that county, he was married to Miss Cushi Hancock at Cooper's Fort in Cooper county. Ten years afterwards, selling his farm in Howard county, he came to what is now Mendon township in Chariton county and here lived until his death, which occurred in about 1854.'
