Peter A. "Bud" Herzing, 77, of 233 Taft Road, St. Marys, died at Elk Regional Health Center on Monday, May 24, 2010 following a lengthy illness.
He was born Dec. 25, 1932 in St. Marys, a son of the late Peter A. and Elizabeth Gerber Herzing.
On February 15, 1958 in St. Mary's Church, he married Joan Stebick Herzing, who survives.
He was a member of the St. Mary's Church. He served in the Army from 1952-1955 during the Korean Conflict. He was the CEO and owner of Elco Sintered Alloys since it was established in 1958. He was a member of the Elks Club, CYMA, CMF and the American Legion. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and playing cards.
In addition to his wife of 52 years, he is survived by a daughter, Jill, Mrs. Shawn McMackin of St. Marys; three sisters, Norma Reed of Emporium, Dolores Eichmiller of St. Marys, and Erma Stanish of St. Marys; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Herzing at birth, two brothers, Frank and Benedict "Sonny" Herzing, 10 sisters: Ethel Dolan, Bea Herzing, Eleanor Green, Louise Duffield, Angie Reed, Loretta Jones, Ann Knarr, Martha "Honey" Herzing and Elizabeth "Betty" Bankovich.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Peter Herzing will be celebrated at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Church Street, on Thursday, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Meinrad Lawson, O.S.B., as celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
A Military service will be conducted by the St. Marys Serviceman's Detail.
Visitation will be at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home, 151 N. Michael St., on Wednesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
