Daughter of George Stoneman, Sr., and Catherine Rebecca Cheney. Both parents were of English descent. They had eight children who reached adulthood, four sons and four daughters. Their eldest child, a son, Major General George Stoneman, a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point; distinguished cavalry officer in the Civil War, and afterwards Governor of the State of California. Charlotte Angeline, called "Anna," was their youngest child and fourth daughter. She married Hon. Benjamin Harris Williams, of Connecticut, 3 January 1872; making their home at 17 West Utica Street, Buffalo, Erie, New York, where they had one son and three daughters. Anna, was a leader in Christian Science in this city, and a reader in her church. Anna was a devoted sister and confidant to her eldest brother, Major General George Stoneman, who in his later years traveled from California, to her home at 17 West Utica Street, in Buffalo, Erie, New York, for a visit as he was convalescing from failing health. However, as his health continued to decline, he never left, staying there, where he died, on the 5 September 1894.
