Dr. Orville C. Gustafson, 80, of Sycamore, died Wednesday, June 1, 1988 at his home.
He was born Dec. 22, 1907 in Chicago, the son of Charles O. and Jennie (Anderson) Gustafson. He married Vivian Thorson on July 26, 1930 in Chicago.
He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church of Sycamore. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Sycamore Masonic Lodge No. 134, the Medinah Temple of Chicago, a 45-year member of the Sycamore Rotary Club, the Sycamore Chamber of Commerce, and a life member of the Scottish Rite Bodies and the Sycamore Elks Club.
He attended Northwestern University Dental School, graduating in 1939, and became a life member of the American Dental Association, the Fox Valley Dental Society and the Illinois State Dental Society.
He served as a deacon at Salem Lutheran Church in Sycamore and was on the staff of Sycamore Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Vivian, of Sycamore; two sons, Marty Gustafson, of St. Charles, and Jack (Jan) Gustafson, of Sycamore; three daughters, Jill (Barry) Dahlgren, of Milwaukee, Sandy Vapes, of Glen Ellyn, and Vivi (Norm) Lee, of Ramsey, Minn.; four granddaughters; six grandsons; and one brother, Harry M. (Evelyn) Gustafson, of Niles.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Salem Lutheran Church of Sycamore with the Rev. Gary B. Ryden and the Rev. Steven Woita officiating. Entombment will be in Elmwood Mausoleum. Visitation will be today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Butala-Van Natta Funeral Home of Sycamore and one hour before the funeral Saturday at Salem Lutheran Church.
