Vivian (Thorson) Gustafson of Sycamore, Ill. died Tuesday, September 12, 1995 in St. Charles, Ill.
She was born on September 8, 1911 in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of William and Hannah (Lundahl) Thorson.
She graduated from Chicago Public Schools, and was a Dental Assistant before her marriage.
She married Orville C. Gustafson, a dentist, on July 26, 1930 in Chicago. They made their home in Sycamore for more than 50 years.
Vivian was a faithful member of Salem Lutheran Church, where she belonged to church circles and served on Altar Guild. She was also a member of Sycamore Hospital Service League, and was a "Pink Lady" for many years.
Her main occupation, however, was serving as a homemaker for her husband and children.
She is survived by three daughters, Sandra Vapes of Glen Ellyn, Ill., Jill (Barry) Dahlgren of Milwaukee, Wis., and Vivian (Norman) Lee, also of Milwaukee; two sons, Martin Gustafson of St. Charles, Ill., and Jack (Jan) Gustafson of Sycamore; five granddaughters; seven grandsons; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and three sisters, Norma Montag of Chicago, Eloise Thorson of Chicago and Eleanor (Al) Erickson of Wheaton, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one sister, Thelma.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 15, 1995 at 1:00 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Sycamore. Entombment will be in the Elmwood Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the church.
Arrangements were completed by Butala Funeral Home, Sycamore. A memorial fund has been established for the Salem Lutheran Church.
