Death of An Elect Lady.
At the home of her son in LaFayette on last Wednesday night the spirit of Mrs. Harriet Davis Wood passed out into the Heaven of Rest. Mrs. Wood was one of the oldest residents of LaFayette having resided here and in this vicinity from childhood and having seen this town grow from a small village to a thriving town. At the time of her death she was 79 years of age. She had always been vigorous and active and her last illness was of short duration. Mrs. Wood was another one of those connecting links with the early days whose life and experiences were commingled with the sunshine and shadows of pioneer days and the constructive period after the war and fringed, in later years, with the modern customs. She was a member of the Methodist Church and her life was of the pure Christian type. She leaves a son, Mr. Walter B. Wood, and one sister, Miss Julia Bachelder, of Washington, D.C., and several grandchildren to mourn her death. The funeral was conducted from the residence Thursday afternoon by Rev. F. L. Aldridge, her pastor, and a large concourse of friends were present to pay their last respects to the memory of this good woman. The interment took place in the City Cemetery. The Sun extends condolence to the bereaved family.
