Colorado Governor. He attended the Bryant and Stratton Commercial Colleges, in Vermont and moved to Canon City, Colorado in 1875. There he was president of the First National Bank and the Electric Light Company of Canon City and was clerk of Fremont County (1885-89). He also helped organize the Canon City Water Works Company, served as Canon City treasurer for two years, Mayor for two years and city councilman for two years. In 1902, he was elected as a Republican the 13th Governor of Colorado serving until 1905. During his term, he dealt with a succession of labor strikes, issues with the miners’ wages and the acknowledgment of the labor unions. After leaving office, he retired to private life and took care of his various financial interests until his death.
