James C. Peabody, prominent Avondale farmer, passed away at his residence in Avondale March 14. Mr Peabody was a retired farmer in the Avondale Area for many years. A member of the church of the Ascension, Pueblo, and the Masonic Lodge and Elks Lodge of Canon City, Colo., and the Kiwanis and Pueblo Country Club. Mrs Peabody served as a captain in the US Army during World War I. Mr Peabody came to Pueblo from Canon City in 1921, at which time he married Miss Alice McHarg, daughter of the late Mr & Mrs Charles K McHarg, pioneer Pueblo residents. Mr Peabody was preceded in death by his wife Sept 24 1962. Survivors include his son, James C Peabody Jr., San Mateo, Calif., and two sisters, Mrs James Grafton Rogers, Georgetown, Colo., and Mrs Cuthbert P. Stearns, of Charlottesville, Va. Three grandchildren also survive. Announcements later.
