US Senator. Elected as a Senator from Pennsylvania to the United States Senate, serving from 1789 to 1791. During the French and Indian War he served as a 1st lieutenant in the Pennsylvania Militia, and fought in the campaign against Fort Duquesne. He also served in the Continetal Army during the Revolutionary War.
